Books

In many ways, unless you are truly famous, writing books is a labour of love. So why bother? Well my first book 'Photo Libraries & Agencies' resulted from a challenge to myself when I became a full time writer and photographer in 1988. I wanted to stretch myself into new directions and prove that I could conceive an idea and carry it through to successful fruition in an acceptable timescale. The book was published as a hard back by BFP Books in 1990 (ISBN 0-907297-22-6). Written with enduring principles in mind, it became a classic in its field until the publisher asked me to think about an update. However, so much had changed in the publishing industry that a radical revision was necessary. Already there were signs of digital delivery transforming the business, a process which continues apace.

In 2000 my second book on the subject was published (ISBN 0-907297-49-8 - front cover illustrated below) helping a new generation of aspiring photographers and established professionals to find their way in the stock library business. Copies may still be available through Amazon UK.

I have fresh ideas for new titles in the future which I am currently researching.

Here is an example of one of seven of my pictures published in 'How to Woodwork' published by Hamlyn in 2007.
