Leica portfolio launched

02nd July 2009
For over forty years I have enjoyed working with Leica rangefinder cameras. The brand was largely responsible for popularizing 35mm photography from the early 1930s. It is a remarkable story of progressive achievement culminating in the launch of the digital M8, the M9 and the innovative S2. In 2010 Leica will launch their first German-designed X1. This new model will offer class-leading imaging quality from a traditional compact Leica body equipped with a universally popular 35mm equivalent fixed focal length lens. Leica's precision design and manufacture ensures long lives and higher residual values over time.

The rangefinder camera system has several distinct advantages, not the least the ease in focusing in low ambient lighting situations. Compared with the more popular SLR and DSLR systems, Leicas are more compact and easier to use and carry. However, despite early attempts to endow them with single lens reflex capabilities, their unique feature is the bright direct vision viewfinder supported by simple precise controls. Eye contact with the subject is not interrupted by a moving mirror or a prism. A Leica is a 'thinking' photographer's camera!

My new portfolio will include pictures taken over the past forty years and will reflect my various interests. My Leica portfolio can be found "here"
