Evita at Dauntsey's School

03rd December 2008
Dauntsey's School performed the first ever production by a British school of the classic musical play called 'Evita' during the week December 1-5, 2008. A small selection of photographs taken from the audience seating are shown in a new portfolio entitled 'Evita'. It was a highly professional performance greatly appreciated by the audience. Pupils of all ages participated, although leading roles were played by members of the sixth forms. An excellent live orchestra of around thirty-five musicians greatly enhanced the experience.

The pictures were taken for private use with a Leica Digilux 2 digital camera. Although this model is long out of production, it has the twin virtues of an excellent fast lens coupled with silent operation. Thus, no one is disturbed. Stage lighting was the only light source used for these pictures; that fact presented its own photographic problems due to variable illumination, colours and high contrasts. It is quite difficult to retain detail in very bright highlights and deep dark shadows. Using RAW files helps to a degree.

This portfolio is posted for the pleasure of the school and participants and may be found here .
